"Buddy Pack" Presentation to CMFB - April 29, 2010

On April 29, 2010, our club presented 337 backpacks and 337 jars of peanut butter to the Central Missouri Food Bank as part of our involvement in CMFB's Buddy Pack program. Pictured below is Club President Rollie Hausman presenting one of the backpacks to CMFB Executive Director Peggy Kirkpatrick. Also pictured are members of our club's Community Service Committee as well as a portion of the additional backpacks and peanut butter jars presented. In Fall 2009 our club delivered some 265 backpacks to CMFB for its "Buddy Pack" program (see the explanation of the program on the Community Service page). Also in Fall 2009 we applied for and received a $1,000 District Simplified Grant (which required a 50% club match) to purchase additional backpacks for the program.

Our Community Services Committee, chaired by Tony St. Romaine and including Beverly Thompson, Matt Reaves, Heather Morgan, Sherri Wood and Kelley Zynda, then worked with club member Mitch Theede of Wal-Mart to obtain "unbeatable pricing" which allowed the presentation of the additional 337 backpacks plus 337 jars of peanut butter.
