Foundation Service Awards - May 7, 2009
At the club's May 7, 2009 meeting, our member Everette Wood,
District 6080 Foundation Chair, presented District Foundation Service Awards
to Anne Deaton, Judy Elliott, and Renee Reed-Miller for "outstanding service
in promoting the Rotary Foundation and its goal of world understanding and
peace." Pictured below, from left, are Everette Wood, Judy Elliott, Renee
Reed Miller and Anne Deaton. The awardees' accomplishments for which they
were cited are highlighted below the photo.

Anne Deaton, who joined our club in 2006, was cited for:

Welcoming groups of Rotarians from Germany and Nigeria
to the MU Chancellor's Residence

Organizing a luncheon involving Rotarians when the
President of the Kilgali, Rwanda Rotary Club was in Columbia
-
Visiting two orphanages, a home for the elderly and
several projects our club has completed with the Cuernavaca Rotary Club
in Mexico
-
Being part of the Rotary delegation which discussed
Rotary projects with the wife of the Governor of the State of Morelos,
Mexico
-
Visiting Rotary clubs in India and heading up a
project to supply student school desks in cooperation with the Belgaum,
India Rotary Club
-
Working with the Jalna, India Rotary Club in the
initial stages of a project to establishing a plastic surgery clinic
Judy Elliott, who joined our club in 2001, was cited for:

Serving as District 6080 Short-Term Cultural Exchange
Coordinator

Organizing the first Short-Term Cultural Exchange
program in 2002-2006

Raising some $5,000 from the sale of "silver paw"
bracelets from Mexico

Spearheading numerous projects with the Cuernavaca
Oriente, Mexico Rotary Club (see list on the International Service page)

Hosting a Group Study Exchange visitor in 2005

Hosting a dinner for the Group Study Exchange visiting
team from Nigeria in 2009

Attending the last two District Conferences and the
Rotary International Convention in Los Angeles in 2008
Renee Reed-Miller, who joined our club in 2006, was cited for:

Serving as chair of the club's World Community Service
Committee

Visiting Rotary clubs in India and working with other
Columbia Rotarians to write a grant for a potable water project (click

Working with the Boulder, CO Rotary Club to ship three
containers of donated goods to outfit the Agatha Foundation Clinic in
Jinja, Uganda

Spearheading a project to provide books for school
children in Afghanistan
